We Are Here -Book Launch
On Saturday 17th June, I was at the Midlands Art Centre (MAC) in Birmingham for the first day of Refugee Week 2023. (You can see photos and video from the event on the We Are Here page.)
It was a really lovely day full of beautiful souls from all over the globe and all walks of life.
Brilliantly organised by Celebrating Sanctuary Birmingham, with lots of volunteers from different organisations including the British Red Cross, RMC and Birch Network to name just a few.
I had the total honour of sharing a table with Alex from Refugee Rescue and we chatted to wonderful people all day in collective horror at the state of government policy and the devastating injuries, trauma and loss of life they lead to. There are so many people though, who work tirelessly to ensure that they can help as many as they can in as many ways possible - (I absolutely do not include myself in this group btw!) and so there was also a sense of collective hope.
Thank you so much to everyone who came to the table whether just to have a chat or to buy books and postcards…it meant so much. And for anyone who has bought a book - I would be so grateful if you could please leave me a review on Goodreads or via the review page.
I’ll be at the Birmingham Symphony Hall on Saturday 24th of June selling more books and cards and I’d love to see some of you there. More details on that to follow.
